The X Games X women's street contest was held on Friday, Aug. 6, and what a contest it was! Elissa Steamer destroyed the course and earned first place, hands down. Highlights included frontside nosegrinds and frontside noseslides on the ledges, a kickflip down the nine stairs, a backside 180, a frontside 180 and a kickflip over the bush gap. She also almost landed a backside kickflip, but time had expired before she had a chance to land it. Lauren Perkins also skated extremely well, earning the bronze medal for her third place finish. Congratulations to Elissa and Lauren!!

On Sunday, Aug. 8, Lauren went back up to Los Angeles to participate in the Girls Learn To Ride Day at the X Games. Top female athletes came together to bring awareness to women in action sports (skateboarding, surfing, BMX, wakeboarding, snowboarding and motocross) and to help girls of all ages and ability levels get involved. Lauren signed some autographs, did some demos, taught some tricks and just basically hung out for a few hours with girls who have the same interest as she does—talk about giving back!

Elissa...golden.

You can't see them here, but Lauren was stoked on the diamonds on her bronze medal.
